OverSky – Back Room

May 25, 20222 min read

• Approach towards Festival Techno
• Suspenseful intro from the vocals
• Heavier kicks and low-end

Following the events of last evening, when our IG followers suggested some great tunes, my attention was turned towards a gem from OverSky, almost by surprise. Even if I rarely enter the darker and sinister spectrums of Bass House, “Back Room” has a fascinating aura that enraptured and left me craving for more from this Italian producer.

This track has been published under the TEAMWRK Records| CLUBWRK imprint, founded by Will Sparks. Fun fact: Will is releasing mostly either on Armada Music or Musical Freedom, while his last Teamwrk’s track was “Stand By Me” more than a year ago. Maybe this is because his contract is with the mentioned heavyweights, but I am curious as to why he has deviated away from his label.

Onto the production now: Intriguing, esoteric vocals welcome the listener while a slow climax awaits them… The atmosphere is tense and vibrant but it takes its time before launching itself.

Slowly approaching this sort of “Festival Techno” genre, which artists such as Hardwell have begun exploring, I must admit that this genre has its potential. Yes, “Back Room” could have a faster, more aggressive drop, but the way the bassline hits is not so easy to forget. Or more appropriately, “punches to the face”?

The young talent, who already has been released over at Ensis Records, Blanco Y Negro music, and many other known labels, paid attention to the fundamental details, especially the low-end and the heavier kick. The job is well done, considering my gripes with the genre, as I look forward to more! I should thank the fan for the suggested “Back Room” on IG, great catch undoubtedly!
