Sebastian Mateo & DJ St3v3 – Hypnotized

April 18, 20212 min read

• Classic Revealed signature schema
• Tech house leaning beat
• Groovy and efficient drop

Yes, the often talked about sub-imprint of Revealed is back in action! This time, they are offering a record from Sebastian Mateo and DJ St3v3, and both are familiar faces in the roster. Surprisingly, this marks as the fifth collaboration between the Peruvian and Ethiopian producer, and their third release on Revealed (does this signify as a trilogy that’s finished, or will there be more?).

“Hypnotized” doesn’t waste time on setting the mood, beginning with a sensual vocal (candidly, it is a trademark in most Bass tracks from the label). The build-up is filled with elements that are distinctly noticeable. As the drop arrives, various gritty synth riffs hits along with a groovy rhythm (even if the vocal chop weren’t fitting, it does add to the energy). This has a Tech House arrangement from end to finish, topped with nifty materials like the FXs and thus forming into the format prevalent in the mentioned imprint.

There is even heavier influences towards Tech House during the second half, where addition of a zesty hi-hat combination happens. This pushes the transition part further (which alternates this time), sliding into the last drop which repeats with the same enthusiasm as its predecessor.

For stranger reasons, the track abruptly finishes like someone intentionally cut there (at least in the YouTube version). There is potential in “Hypnotized”, however since it doesn’t deviate as much from the Revealed blueprints, it comes off as a tad repetitive and standard. It is a solid and catchy tune nonetheless, and maybe in the coming future there will be more surprises in store from this productive duo.
