• Squeaky “Deorro style” lead
• Hit or miss concept
• Enjoyable drop that accomplishes its task
“La manos arriba, cintura sola“… Nah, wrong song.
Broz Rodriguez and Fito Silva are entertaining us today with a refreshing party banger, “Manos Arriba“. The title’s meaning is a generic “Hands Up” in Spanish, if you are wondering about its meaning.
“Manos Arriba” is that fun track that represents a hit or miss: I was listening to it with a friend, for example. While I was enjoying it, approving “Manos Arriba” for this review, he was looking at me like I was crazy: he considered it extremely noisy. The choice is up to you, but this approach, at least in my personal experience, works.
Broz Rodriguez and Fito Silva, both from Mexico, used a squeaky lead that slightly reminds of Deorro. This is an extremely dominant element of “Manos Arriba” and its high pitch may result annoying. However, if you are into it, you will be entertained by a strong electro house drop that combines an aggressive bassline with sudden switches between two leads. It’s a festival combination that can burn a dancefloor, especially during the second drop, when the situation is starting to heat up. A 150 BPM transition (not a surprise in this kind of EDM) reintroduces the squeaky lead with a more aggressive kick, ending the production with a high amount of stamina.
Honestly, “Manos Arriba” is a satisfying project. It’s enjoyable (except for the buildup, featuring an extremely predictable vocal), it does its job, entertains people. Its drop is not revolutionary but it still managed to leave a refreshing aftertaste… There is room for improvement, yet the two Mexican producers managed to take a step in the right direction.
