As we always say, when we present an unusual genre (in this case drum & bass), you can be sure that it’s something special. We rarely step out of our comfort zone, but EDM is magical because it’s unexpected.
Guonka, today, is the surprise. This extremely underrated Costa Rican producer put his hands on “Hypnotise”, a pop song by Chloe Louise, and created an awesome remix.
The original, as said, is quite commercial, and we noticed that Guonka kept the vibe almost intact while adding an impressive dose of dynamism! The elegant trumpet is still present, giving a classy touch to the mood, but with a drum and bass background, constantly playing, you can already guess that the upcoming minutes will be intense.
In fact, after a brief buildup, the drop suddenly strikes. A future bass lead, with an immense energy, changes the atmosphere into a euphoric and powerful one. It is hypnotic, dynamic and catchy, one of the best DnB drops we have ever heard. We must say that it’s not a typical genre for the blog, but nonetheless, a delightful surprise!
There is a “summery vibe” which will soon start getting common in the coming days, but the “Hypnotise” remix is not generic nor commercial. It’s a good hybrid between that, and an underground approach. Overall, it’s more focused on bringing up an emotional break, with elegance and class, and then breaking the delicate mood with a frenetic drop.
Interesting experiment by Guonka. In the end, we must say that he definitely delighted us with an enjoyable remix, and we hope that his talent would be recognized!
