Klavis – Alien Invasion

February 5, 20192 min read

• Oldschool big room structure
• Innovative elements in the breakdown
• Ambitious concept

We’ve already spoken about Klavis, a young Italian talent who delighted us with a lovely future house creation, some months back. Last Friday we had the chance to taste his latest tune, an old school big room production with innovative and classic elements mixed all together. It’s not Spinnin’ Talent Pool material, but we are pleased to hear creative vibes from there. It’s one of the most underrated sub-labels around because its original roster often produces intriguing things.

Anyway… After the sweet “Success Killer“, Klavis dropped a completely different song: “Alien Invasion”. Despite the cover representing a staircase (weird choice), the title already gives away the energetic vibe of the release.

We have a brutal big room tune, which winks towards the 2012 golden period (minimal melody, lots of reverb, signature kick) and another one to the current wave, especially with the vocal and the trap elements in the breakdown. The drop balances the already described minimalism with a stunning reverb, making it energetic and deep with few details available. Interesting choice.

While extremely impressed by the courage and the personality of Klavis, who managed to create something exciting and rather ambitious, we were expecting some more dynamism in the drop. “Alien Invasion” is missing that twist we were looking for, that explosion we were hoping for. It does its job, it brings interesting elements, but doesn’t stand out too much. There is more potential to show, we have that feeling.
