Labels, Please Make More Joint Releases!

October 26, 20212 min read

Everything started from a submission by Manche and DJ GUY, “All I Need, which I totally recommend if you are looking for some “out of the box” Trance Big Room. No spoilers!

However, I decided to broaden my perspective and explore the album where “All I Need” is included: a joint ADE Sampler from Intensity Recordings and Glow Records!

We’ve spoken about both labels in the past and why they are focusing on keeping Festival EDM alive with a profusion of new talents… Then, there’s this new strategy of joint releases which I found so intriguing that I “hijacked” the original “All I Need” review into a reflection about label collabs. Sorry guys!

Intensity has collaborated with several underground labels already: Nik Cooper and Break It Down, with a total of 3 songs. With Glow Records we already seen a co-release (“Higher”), and the aforementioned sampler.

I only have sporadic examples of big realities working together: for example, “Fire” by KSHMR and Dallask has been published on both Revealed and Spinnin’ as a sort of co-release back in the days. However, I guess that these are painful processes for several legal and management reasons.

Working together can be a great chance to grow together as a label, extending the network, double the promotional efforts since there are two parts involved, and, well… It’s something new. Unusual collaborations, such as IKEA x Swedish House Mafia, MCDonald’s and Travis Scott or Fortnite and Marshmello seems to be very successful, so why not applying the same logic to EDM labels? Prove me wrong, but there’s potential here.
