Shoot ‘em up!

October 13, 20202 min read

The commercial camaraderie between gaming and music has been second to none, especially after advent of Electronic scene in the last few years. Many leading musicians have shown their interest towards the other sector. Notable names have took on to a regular streaming schedule on various platforms, a newer past-time giving their fan-base a better distraction to indulge. Various video-game developers already know the profitable outcomes by taking shrewd marketing techniques to attract the massive scene in Dance genre.

Previous month, the Singaporean brand Garena crowned American EDM veteran KSHMR as their ambassador into their flagship offering Free Fire. And not only that, the endeared icon will also be playable as a character in an upcoming update this month. Preceding this, the company also inducted Brazilian act Alok as well, alongside including his exclusive song “Vale Vale”.

With the surging amount of downloads on this specific action game playable on both Android and iOS, it is abundantly clear on why this marketing moves were made. After a recent ban on Tencent’s PUBG mobile in India, the only competitor which foreshadowed Free Fire dominantly, the publisher saw a massive jump in user-base from the mentioned country, accounting up to a 2.1 million plus downloads in just bare span of ninety-six hours. And South-Asia being an exploding Dance music hotspot (with one of the most revered personage there being KSHMR himself), this move has brought major profits.

As the Travis Scott-Fortnite collab has shown us, these partnerhips can be extremely profitable for both parties involved…
