PW Music – The Reason

May 9, 20213 min read

• Zesty vocal performance
• Energetic and pulsating drop
• Mixed feelings after conclusion

After a few months on not updating myself to newest offerings from Different Records’ catalog, the reason solely being the tracks didn’t convince me entirely (with some exceptions, of course). After this, I decided to take a look on what they released and I found on what they have revealed so far, and I found one worth mentioning. Among the others, one beautiful creation from the Swedish act PW Music caught my attention the most, and hence today’s article on it.

Mentioned track is the newest project that combines a vibrant hook with a romantic vocal topline, a synergy that in the good hands of the said creator, has baked into a delightful recipe. Starting with the standardized transition used in the genre, the voice enters into the scheme and leading there on. I must admit the performance befits the vibe intended, as the human element is emphasized in much more priority before the instrumental.

The build-up is a minimalistic endeavour that I expected something groovier out of, candidly, the result still sounds satisfying to a degree. PW skilfully played with the ensemble he constructed, especially sound effects to give the drop a more futuristic touch and feel. This might not please everyone in the audience to the same level, but talking in technical terms, its a solid one.

As I expected afterwards, the vocal operates as a loop that accompanies with us during the entire performance, along side a noisier piano that gives a.. jazzy touch? The second drop doesn’t pertain much originality as it repeats to its preceding one at the same rhythm and presentation.

All in all, PW Music has unveiled a notable work whose real power lies in its songwriting and vocal delivery, yet the breakdown do tend to lose the same tenacity as the drops. Catchy and alluring, it imparted me with partial impressions as the outcome is a dynamic tune and perhaps will be not as preferred by picky listeners. On other fronts, “The Reason” excels in quality!
