Kaotix – Rave Tribe

May 10, 20213 min read

• Native American chant, on a loop
• Psy elements in the first drop and breakdown
• Darker atmosphere

Rave Tribe” has got me excited plenty, which happens to be a Big Room Trance production from the up and coming Kaotix, excluding room for potential development in a genre that has stuck to specific boundaries for far long. Many producers especially in the Rave Culture roster, are pushing this lines with intriguing craftsmanship. However, if we were to really observe for some fresh surprises, the secret is often to pay attention to unheard names.

It has been only some time since I positively mentioned of Kaotix in the Glow Records 2020 Miami Sampler review. The American talent is pursuing W&W type of Trance signature, overlaid with darker shades and has already earned some well-done releases on Outrave Recordings. His third appearance has urged me for writing on him further in detail, and hence this article.

What we have here is a simplistic notion and while it may seem simple on paper, Kaotix fine-tuned this idea to another degree. Working with a Psy-Trance chant (perhaps a Native American inspired), acommpanied with a classic Big Room Trance build. The result is fascinating, a great indicator of this being the first drop itself. The vox plays around in a looped format, as the darker bass-synths are left free to roam in the backdrop. Small details capture the attention even more, intensifying the exotic ambience which is typical to Psy-Trance realm, but often missing in Big Room trademarks. The breakdown roars with standard super-saws, trying further to embrace the ethnic tonality, albeit to a minor success and surely done with passion. Conclusion arrives with a final, more standard drop segment where a secondary riff plays a hook, catching me off-guard in a pleasant and unexpected manner.

While still in its development stages, this idea could be dialed up a notch if Kaotix is willing to endeavour in exploring into this exotic domain. It could be the key element for standing out. For now, I can state that “Rave Tribe” surpasses the anticipated quality, and more is yet to be done.
