NAEMS & FearZ – Mukti

• Precisely crafted bassline
• Ethnic vocal loop, a staple of the Psy genre
• Creation that plays around with familiarity and personality

Teaming up for an unusual and attention grabbing Psy Trance creation are the upcoming acts Naems and FearZ, which has been titled as “Mukti“!

The stereotype of naming of any main-stage song of the mentioned genre with a Hindi word has found a solid footing nowadays. It did become the norm because of Vini Vici, however it can be traced back from its sister genre of Goan Trance, an underground but pivotal and similar style. Anyways, it is still better than the generic epithets of “Hands Up” and “Get Down, in my opinion.

Now the reason I claimed the word “unusual” is because of FearZ. The Indian producer seems to be more devoted towards Trap, while NAEMS has shown his variety and adeptness from Big Room to Tribal Room, but exclusive of this very particular form of music. Nonetheless, new experimentation is always a welcome change, and the result is convincing of this fact.

Talking about the instrumental, the bassline perhaps takes the cake with its construction. The grinding tonality attached to it is a complete pleasure to listen to, and when paired with a melody that isn’t fearful to adopt a complex blueprint, it does the charm.

Now, as with many EDM songs of the current period show, the breakdown shows specifics sign of being somewhat of a cliché (ethnic loops and drums). However, the Austrian producer comes to rescue with wise additions of his signature traits in the build-up segment, creating an intriguing balanced formula for the listener to hook onto.

To add further variations, there is a Hardstyle portion in the end which I enjoyed, especially when it actually fits with the overall composition and enhances its stamina. The transition as well, is carried out smooth and unhitched. leaving us surprised and satisfied.

Despite how Psy has its textbook shortcomings, I have affection for it. NAEMS and FearZ created a quality idea, delivering production that both utilizes labelled sounds, playing with some personality and superlative sound design choice. A refreshing experience indeed!
