Kcink – Shoot‌ Me Down

April 17, 20202 min read

• Emotional atmosphere, without exceeding with aggressiveness
• Excellent work on the energetic bassline, in line with the other elements
• Hypnotic outcome, thanks to the hooky vocal

Dirtybot is a new independent label and we have decided to review their interesting debut release, “Shoot Me Down” from UK-Based producer Kcink. The artist has a couple of quality releases on Syrup (genre:‌ Future House), but this time we have some future bass in our hands.

The cover didn’t particularly convince me (always careful about these details):‌ Asian environment, Purple/Blue filter, that font in yellow… It seems heavily inspired by CYB3RPVNK‌ style. Hopefully, Dirtybot won’t become the same greedy Spotify-friendly company, I’m not going to think maliciously based on just a cover. Surely, this newborn label aims towards underground trap and future bass, as we notice while hearing “Shoot‌ Me Down”.

Kcink experimented with a very enjoyable vocal, fusing calm, emotional vibes with glitched, distorted segments. It’s a trendy way of utilizing vocal chops, and I think it works efficiently in this situation. The listener is trapped into the world created by the artist: first slowly and calmly, then more emotionally involved in the drop. The overall outcome results being sweet, but it never falls into dead segments or drops of stamina. Impressive result, thanks to the quality vocal and, of course, to the intelligent work on the base, especially in the bassline. This was by far my favorite element, energetic but in line with the general atmosphere, keeping a vein of sweetness in the drop’s sequence.

Kcink and Dirtybot “played” it safe with a good future bass tune that manages to present the new label without exceeding with experimentalism… The result is an enjoyable release with a good sound design, an entertaining vocal and an atmosphere that I found well designed. Underground, but that kind of future bass that can easily be appreciated by various kind of listeners. A good combination for a new label, let’s see the next Dirtybot moves after the first, positive one!
