Project 46 & Linney – Remember You

April 16, 20202 min read

• Quality production with an excellent vocal
• The familiar sound is all in there!
• Nostalgic pitching, predictable hook

Project 46 is a name I haven’t long seen in better half of the previous decade… The pair made a complete disappearance from the scene without any reason, which equally puzzled me. However, I’ve been in love with many of their Progressive House hits and nostalgia obliged me today to analyze their work as a reviewer, and not just as a fan.

I can’t avoid recommending some noteworthy Project 46 hits, like “You & I” with Dubvision, “Last Chance” with Kaskade, “Crime” with Avicii and my all-time favorite, “Take Away The Pain“. Their album, “Beautiful”, is an amazing way to discover their hallmarked emotional and warm sound.

Listening to their new collaboration with Linney, released via pink pineapple, we can still admire their signature style in the sweet breakdown. The section has their typical warmth, accompanied by a sweet lead that accompanies the listener in a relaxing journey. Linney has an amazing voice, I particularly appreciated the presence of the talented Los Angeles-based vocalist!

Speaking about the drop… this where we found the only catch associated. Watered down, it’s clearly well-produced but it didn’t pop the energy one could expect from Project 46. The disconcerting tonality comes from the used bassline, as the melody upholds the familiar touch I endeared. Nonetheless, “Remember You” is a quality product that utilizes, in an egregious way, the stunning vocal and experience of the performers, but falls a bit flat when anticipated for vibrancy, agreeing with a certain banality we are sadly used to now. I’m particularly curious to see how they will evolve their sound to the new scene: hopefully, not just in a Spotify-friendly and commercial direction.

A comeback that arrived softly, but I hope, it will be welcomed by the scene! For now, I just have gained an irresistible desire to binge-listen “Beautiful”.
