Yves V & MAD M.A.C. – Money Money

December 13, 20192 min read

• “Money Money”? Cynical title
• Inelegant and cliché composition
• Pesky and monotonous vocal

Yesterday, I was working on another review while listening to some new songs on YouTube. Suddenly, I heard “Money Money“, the new Bass House work by the recent alliance between Yves V and MAD M.A.C.. My review can be summarized by the most upvoted comment, written by SkoomaBuffer:

“This track is so unoriginal, boring and dull its unreal. Why Yves V is still on Spinnin’?”

Well said, SkoomaBuffer, first-rate observation!
I can’t really find anything more to add here; the sound design is actually sensible, but it’s evident that there isn’t any effort shown here. That’s its just not Spinnin’ material, it’s effortlessly rubbish, with an annoyingly materialistic and inept vocal performance acting as the icing on the cake.

Yves V has over 3.5 millions of monthly listeners on Spotify, surpassing artists like W&W, thus I think I know the reasons why he’s still on Spinnin’. He’s a versatile artist whose particular aptitude in choosing collaborators resulted in many successful releases. First with DV&LM, who brought his career at the top back in the days, and then with multitudes of renowned producers. This year, he worked along with significant others like Afrojack, Krewella, Dastic, Mariana Bo, all with tons of streams.

Even if the Belgian DJ is often proficient, with “Money Money”, I daresay that he missed the target by a huge margin. MAD M.A.C., a duo who clearly have shown competence before, seem to have been wrung dry of any inspiration for this.

Their resultant is an unrefined and gauche composition that follows an overused trend, hitting all the available clichés and decorating the output with an irksome vocal loop. Frivolous release.
