Flynninho – Murderous

October 25, 20192 min read

• Engaging bass house structure
• A slight resemblance to “Atom”, by Nari & Milani
• Dark, Halloween-themed atmosphere

“Murderous” falls into the understated kind of hidden gem of the EDM world, which has caught me into a hypnotic loop lately. Fast forward some days, and I am satisfying my urge by penning down this article about this specific musical composition.

Without meandering about anything else, let’s get down to the schematics. Its main characteristic, as one can easily discern, is the wobbling bassline, dark and energetic. It instantly reminded me of one of my favorite classics: “Atom” by Nari and Milani. The American DJ/Producer has translated these very endeared vibes into a modernistic Bass House structure, accompanied by a charismatic vocal.

Repetitive loops tend to ruin the overall experience for me, but in this, we have a rather linear, danceable approach… The elements fit together like pieces of a puzzle, only grandiose and not perplexing! The clean, well structured yet basal scheme showcases the weapon with a certain yet controlled intense flow.

Flynninho is a resident of many Chicago clubs, and this may well-explain why “Murderous” is conformed to the club-oriented structure. Everything, from the melody hook to the vocal, tries to get stuck in your head… And for me, it absolutely worked!

Since the production is, as said, minimal (especially in the breakdown, literally an escalating build-up with the vocal), I didn’t find the personality I was holding on for. I missed that spooky touch, since this is a Halloween song, which demands the requisite dosage of tension. However, this compensation is met with the adept arrangements of this song.

In conclusion, Flynninho has dropped a clever and competent tune for the dance-floor. “Murderous” is capable of entertaining a crowd thanks to its effective structure, but lacks a touch of personality, except for the bassline, a detail that may amaze some old-school fans like me. Overall, this was an enjoyable experience!
