Italian producer & DJ Mauro Picotto has long been renowned in the Dance music scene for his unforgettable Trance singles. Many of his evergreen hits have been re-worked by contemporary artists. “Lizard”, which was released back at the start of this century, has been revived again with a splendid remix, none other from the dynamic German duo Cosmic Gate. Previously, they have been applauded for their singles like “Exploration of Space”, and have collaborated with other heavyweights like Markus Schulz and many others.

Within these years, the mentioned duo-logy, like any other artist, have evolved their style of production. Moving from a harder trance schematics, they conformed to a more progressive tone for their compositions. The German pair have further released another extensive album this year, titled “20 Years”. This remix has been added under this particular collection of music.

Now about this modernistic re-take of “Lizard”, I have to admit that the whole element of the drop made me feel elated. Kicking off with serrated Electro bassline-laden introduction, the song pumps the energy only to be utilised further. The breakdown along with the vocals, which are kept from the very original, work along with the familiar anthem-approved hook from the classic. However, the synth selection differs with this one, with more emphasis on the sentimental atmosphere.
The remix comes to a perfect end, with a luminous and melodic climactic beat.

To sum up in a few words, Cosmic Gate’s twist on this vintage work has made it compatible and au courant for the present-day dance-floors.
