David Guetta, Brooks & Loote – Better When You’re Gone

David Guetta?
Predictable Brooks drop
Great vocal performance

love the actual EDM industry. Sincerely, it’s outstanding. It looks so beautiful to see the names of some top djs in songs in which they actually didn’t do almost anything. But you know, (maybe) a name is more important (or gives more $$) than the music itself. What a wonderful world we live in!

Yes, yes, I know, I should stop with the irony and start doing my job, but the joke was too obvious, I’m sorry. Talking about the new release, my opinion is similar to the one expressed about “Like I Do”. The sound is 100% Brooks, if Guetta’s team did something it was just in the break. Getting into it, it starts with a charming lovely guitar, followed by a wonderful vocal made by Loote, sincerely one of the best things of the track. Then we have a small teaser of the leads and the melody, just before the build-up introduces us to the first drop.

What can I say here. It’s just another Brooks drop, with a great sound design as always, but also with the exact same scheme, which starts to be boring, and a melody that, although not being bad, is way worse than many other composition of the Dutch producers. I’ve complained about this so many times, but artists continue using the same structure and sounds until they give them the last euro. It may be worth it for their pockets, but not for the industry.

There’s nothing much to add I think. We have another Brooks collab with big names where we only hear Brooks sounds. At least Byte, Boomerang or Like I Do were fresh and impressive at that time. Right now, “Better When You’re Gone” is not. Being an incredible producer, it’s a pity to see that Brooks is stacked on the same thing over and over again. I really hope to hear something different from him shortly.
