“Turning Back” represents the comeback of TripL and MR.BLACK on Revealed, after quite a lot of time! The Israeli duo impressed us with “Alive“, a fantastic collab with Radiology, our favorite of the ADE 2017 Sampler. While MR.BLACK, also from Israel, is back after various bangers on Hardwell’s label, including collabs with Wasback, 22bullets, Ale Mora and Diego Miranda.
The result of their joint efforts is the catchy “Turning Back”, a progressive production that presents a hypnotic vocal system and a certain dynamism that delighted us. During its whole duration, we felt the energy that the vocal created, even if the results are often dispersive… This one was solid. TripL have already shown an uncanny talent in this specific element. A strong bassline, with a bouncy approach, does the rest of the job.
The biggest con of “Turning Back” is its duration, in our opinion… 2 minutes and 50 seconds isn’t an exaggeration, but we felt that the tune ended too soon, leaving us thirsty for more. Something is missing, that specific element capable of adding further personality to the composition and we think that an additional 30 seconds could have been able to introduce it — a missed opportunity.
However, this doesn’t ruin the favourable opinion we have about it. It’s an excellent release, without exceeding in personality, but entertaining. MR.BLACK has already introduced new talents on Revealed, and TripL are a new great discovery, especially if you missed their previous release while surfing through the ocean of mediocrity in the ADE Sampler.
