David Guetta, Martin Garrix & Brooks – Like I Do

February 23, 20182 min read

80\100

This Friday starts with a huge news: the long-awaited collaboration between Martin Garrix, David Guetta and Brooks is finally out! “Like I Do” may be the biggest tune (in terms of popularity of the artists) released in this early 2018, and, obviously, fans are extremely excited!

In our opinion, “Like I Do” presents some interesting characteristic. It has the “poppy” mood typical of a song for radios, but it definitively stands out from the usual mediocrity. Brooks helped in that, his style is always very fresh…

The song begins with a beautiful vocal part by Talay Riley. The lyrics are really simple and repetitive, but somehow it gives you a satisfied feeling. It’s typical to find those delicates vocals on Guetta’s songs, but here something special happened. The harmony between the vibrant break and the voice is impressive. It’s a game of balancement and shades, and, even if the average listener will focus on the lyrics, we recommend paying attention to it.

The vocal fits on the break like a sock on a foot. Perfectly.

Like I Do

After a brief (and classic) future bounce buildup, we came to the drop. It’s easy to understand who put his hands over it: Brooks. The Dutch talent has a particular and powerful lead, easy to recognize and appreciate. However, the chords and the melody have been heavily influenced by Martin Garrix. It slightly reminds a “Byte 2.0″, for its structure, but slightly more “emotional” and with a different melodic approach. A nice drop, for us, even if fans were expecting something more from the artists.

“Like I Do” does its job. A commercial hit, ready to gain millions of plays, with an utterly high musical quality and a good personality.

Is it creative? Enough for this context.
Is it enjoyable? Definitively.

That’s a well deserved 80\100. We hope to hear more future bounce in the major scene!
