• Different from expected
• Alluring vocal hooks
• Genuine and creative drop
With a variety of uprising talents making their reputation this year, we all got to agree about that one specific individual did solid ground-work for his career. We are talking about the well-endowed Dutch named Brooks, who kept up to his precise quality with his productions. Unveiling a record only a couple days ago, he has demonstrated his take on a different style but embedded with signature. Titled as “Limbo“, it also features the alluring voice of Zoë Moss, who additionally provided the voice for Mike Williams’ hit single “Melody (Tip Of My Tongue)“.
While 2018 proved to be monumental for many artists, Brooks got the most out of it. One of the most streamed and played songs of this year was his collaboration “Like I Do” with the heavyweights, Martin Garrix and David Guetta. This song proved to be infectious and gathered over millions of listens on different platforms and festivals. Following this gargantuan was “Lynx“, released on the mega-label of STMPD. This was yet another display of prowess by his signature sounds, amalgamating vigour and melodic tone with shuffling and rhythmic arrangements.
Now about “Limbo”. There is an obvious reason that many of the fan-base Brooks has gathered with his creative rhythms, missed his unique and usual schematics with this. However, we would slightly disagree, even if this song leans towards chill and future bass, it stands out with the distinctive elements used throughout. While the breakdown is an ear-grabbing segment with the vocal and atmosphere, the drop leading it feels genuine. Using stuttering synths and brass hits, Brooks didn’t limit his synthline with the generic saws. This certainly gave more to the beat, adding to the sentimental tone.
Concluding, it would be best to say that “Limbo” fares well with its originality and enticing components, without being generic.
