I’m not reviewing an Ultra Music release since… I guess 2016. Even though I had almost decided to write some lines about their biggest success, the legendary “Dame Tu Cosita” (sigh).
Jokes apart, today I’m bringing you a special remix from the Italian duo Merk & Kremont. Why am I writing about it?
Because I loved the original song, “Bambola” by Betta Lemme. It’s a pop tune, which received a lot of popularity (47 million views) thanks to its creative concept. First of all, there is an unexpected EDM drop, a weaker version of “Bumaye”, if I really have to make a comparison. Secondly, I loved how the singer used three languages, all mixed together with sudden transitions. It’s so cool to hear French, Italian and English conjointly!
However, I wasn’t sure to review “Bambola” because it’s not really a common genre for EDM Reviewer. Thanks to the good work of Merk & Kremont, I can now speak about both versions without struggling too much.
The Italian duo reworked “Bambola”, eliminating the original drop (which I suggest to check out, in any case) and using their signature sound. Typical bouncy bassline, hypnotic vocal loop, minimal yet catchy melody. I liked how they slightly sped up the breakdown, adding some more dynamism. That’s all.
In few words, this “Bambola” remix is not particularly special, it’s the classic kind of remix that many artists release without thinking too much about it. It’s fine, you can feel that M&K didn’t work very much on it: the output is fine, it’s enjoyable, end of the story. They didn’t even speak about it in their socials, from what I saw.
However, I used it for underlining a good job of those talented guys, and to suggest checking both the original poppish version and the remix, because they are creative in their own way and, at least for me, pretty catchy!
