Two surprises on STMPD by Brooks, Crossnaders, and CMC$!

May 28, 20182 min read

Martin Garrix’s label, STMPD RCRDS, is on fire lately! Last Friday we found two amazing releases there, “Lynx” and “Baller”, that surprised us for a reason: their unpredictableness.

Brooks – Lynx

77\100

Let’s begin with “Lynx” by Brooks: an awesome mix of delicate progressive style and his signature future bounce. The main critic to the producer’s style is that many songs sound similar: with this release, the young talent shut them off. Many fans thought that Jay Hardway was included in the collaboration, because of the drop… The progressive melodic structure is quite similar to various releases of the Dutch artist, but in the end, it was all Brook’s work. “Lynx” is a wonderful release that fuses two different approaches together, making hard for us to determine its genre. “Progressive Bounce” may be a new experimental path for Brooks, and we are sure he will be able to amaze us with it! It’s the right song for STMPD: creative, with a more emotional approach typical of the label, but maintaining a clear Brooks personality. It suffers a bit because of the lack of a vocal though.

CMC$ & Crossnaders – Baller

80\100

Let’s be honest: who was imagining to see CMC$ making bass House? Nobody.

This awesome and completely unexpected collab with the trio Crossnaders is way more underrated than Lynx, but another interesting release from STMPD! The Dutch talent usually focused on future bass and calm vibes, teamed up with a trio notorious for their electro house and trap releases. The result is a futuristic collab, “Baller. The bass house drop presents a lot of dynamism, a massive system of percussions and a certain catchiness that amazed us!

The hypnotic vocal is the real point of strength of ”Baller“: an amazing performance of the singer, capable to add that energy for balancing the stunning power of the drop!
