Jack Wins and his “Feel Good House Music” [EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW]

February 28, 20185 min read

While analysing the future house scene in 2017, a single name impressed us.

Jack Wins.

The Dutch (but currently living in the UK) producer has experienced an incredible peak of success in the latest year, thanks to his unique and enjoyable style. After listening to a couple of his releases or remixes, it’s easy to understand why his sound is so fascinating. There is that particular “happiness“, that takes you in a magic world and gives an unresistible desire to dance.

Needless to say that we are not the only ones that noticed his talent: remixes for Kygo, Alan Walker, Axwell & Ingrosso, releases on Armada and TFOH, millions of streams… The latest achievement by Jack Wins (and probably the toughest one) was to release “Freewheelin'” via Axtone, the notorious Axwell’s label… He demonstrated the ability to adapt to a particular way of thinking (typical of Axtone releases) while keeping those continuous, signature, wonderful “happy vibes”.

Is that the Jack Wins secret? The happiness? We decided to ask directly to him, and we are honoured to publish an interview with Jack Wins today!

1. Your future house style has already received a lot of praise, from important artists and thousands of fans. What’s the secret behind it? Why did you decide to produce this unique future house sound?

Ah thanks! Well there is no real secret behind it or a magical recipe… I like to call my style ‘feel good house music’ – nothing too complicated, just good vibes! I’ve always been a fan as a clubber and a DJ of fun, uplifting type of house music with vocals – something that makes you wanna dance, sing-a-long and have a good time… So it made sense for me to produce it as well.

2. Your latest release is the awesome “Freewheelin'”, out now on Axtone. Fans were surprised to see you there, but the expectations were satisfied with a song that smoothly fits in the Axwell’s label mood, while keeping your personality. Will we see you again on Axtone? Should we expect other important releases in the future?

Yeah, perhaps it’s not really like the more clubby releases that have come out on Axtone, but I guess it reflects more Axtone’s heritage, but in a more housey way. I hope so!

3. What is your favourite song at the moment? And why?

Illyus & Barrientos – So Serious is a great club record! It has all the right elements – thumping groove, catchy vocals and some nice horns. Reminds me a little of house music from early 2000’s. This track will continue to grow over the summer I reckon. 90/100!

4. Your discography already presents important milestones, like official remixes for Kygo and Axwell & Ingrosso, and releases on important labels like Axtone and Mixmash Records. What is your best achievement to date?

Ah good question! Remixes are always fun and obviously great to do official remixes for so many big names – official remix for last year’s biggest track: Ed Sheeran – Shape of You was pretty cool, but I think my best achievement so far has been my original track ‘I Used To Love You’ that went much further commercially than I anticipated. But ‘Freewheelin’ will hopefully take it to the next level! (fingers crossed!)

5. Do you want to leave a message to fans and aspiring producers out there?

Thanks to all you guys supporting my music – I hope my new music will continue to put smiles on your faces and keep you dancing! For aspiring producers: work hard, follow your passion and be nice to others – you’re all in it together for the same passion – it’s not a competition!
