KSHMR has always shown a particular anti-conformism. This aspect is evident in his Spinnin’ sub-label, Dharma Worldwide, which has been releasing tracks from new, interesting, and underrated talents alongside established producers. On this compilation, we’ve gotten new tracks from familiar faces like Timmy Trumpet, Padé, Murat Salman, Patrick Moreno, and Krimsonn, but we were also given fresh tracks from talent like Aquadrop, Funk Machina, WYKO, Da Brozz, NEVERGLOW, Dennis Cartier, WICKD, and B2B who all have interesting discographies behind them in addition to some bright new faces. This 15-tracks compilation, “Sounds Of Summer” all feature that signature ethnic style that we’ve come to expect from the label, but comes in many flavors and genres like festival-ready tunes, pop tracks, hardstyle, house, and experimental work.

In this analysis I’ll briefly speak about my favorites from the compilation, however it’s worth noting that all of these tracks are worth at least one listen to check out something you might not have heard before. Each one of them has a particular personality so picking a handful of them hasn’t been easy. KSHMR worked well on two collabs with Timmy Trumpet and B3RROR (the trap-hardstyle fusion was intriguing), but my favorite is “Myanmar” by KRISM and FSB. A heavy big room banger that had a rather predictable structure, but a dynamism that trapped me inside its dynamic loop. The exotic breakdown gives some freedom from the usual boundaries of the genre. I’m really happy about KRISM (a stable presence in our reviews) and FSB’s work.

Another recommended gem is the psy smasher by WICKD, “Vishnu.” As you can probably guess, the track features Indian vibes along with a hypnotic vocal that fuses together with a brutal drop. I truly loved the drums and the unique approach towards a genre that has even stricter boundaries than big room. Speaking about psy-trance, Da Brozz & Miami Blue used a similar idea, albeit less experimental. The vocal was one of the most interesting I’ve seen around, and I want to underline the classic “Italianish psy” structure there: so catchy! Da Brozz are from my hometown, they make crazy mashups, and I’m extremely proud to see them here.

The two KSHMR tracks and the Spanish supercollab between Padè and Murat Salman are my personal final recommendations. I’ve been extremely satisfied by “Sounds Of Summer” and I hope that this brief review will inspire you to check out the full sampler.
