Finally, after a long time, we are reviewing some interesting stuff from Afrojack’s label, Wall Recordings. This time it is from the owner itself joining forces with notable Dutch duo Mightyfools. Welcome to “Keep It Low”!
If you are into the domain of electro house, then you probably know what this collaboration lead up to. Yes, you have guessed right, something very energetic and catchy. Mightyfools have several acclaimed releases on Revealed and Afrojack, he needs no introduction. I would like to underline how the old-fashioned cover explains that “Keep It Low” tries to bring back some nostalgic vibes, while actually presenting something innovative and well made.
“Keep It Low” is, however, a dynamic crossover between bass house and electro. This kind of style already has been on the trend, as many known artists have experimented with both the nifty genres.
Same happens here. Starting with a vocal sample, slowly elevating, bringing in the riser, leading into the bass house inspired drop, we have a monster tune.
The drop features a squeaking synth, with a house groove supporting in the backdrop… Soon the synth changes to a distorted electro bass one, then switching rapidly back to the main drop synth, repeating again and again.
The Afrojack old style influence is easily noticeable.
The drop ends with a snippet of dazzling saw synth playing as a transition to the breakdown.
The breakdown starts with a silence, escalating to the vocal sample with a breakbeat, creating a catchy groove.
Finally, “Keep It Low” certainly is a great release from Wall Recordings lately! Without a doubt, this momentous collaboration has been prolific. The track has the right dosage of energy equipped, without many melodies and complex elements coming in the whole track. I’m glad to see Afrojack doing what he’s good at, dirty electro house, with some fresh ideas by Mightyfools.
