Marc Blou – Feels Like

January 12, 20222 min read

• Filled with variations
• Borderline chaotic, but all in fun
• Not a standout entirely yet promising

Without setting in stone any huge expectations, House District Records are slowly impressing me with sequence of quality festival releases, marking a clear improvement on their selection as compared to many of their competitors! We’ve already praised their joint EP “Stage Soldiers”, where we discovered some of the label’s members; today, it’s time to know Marc Blou, another promising name.

Already a resident of HDR’s roster since over two years, the German producer constructs Big Room with intricate patterns, following a trend that is slowly making more sense to me. Hitting the right spot between a creative, snappily switching rhythms and yet maintaining a certain punch that is easier said than done although, many producers are mastering this particular art nowadays.

“Feels Like” outputs the mentioned melodic strategy: there are two distinct designs, alternating during the entire progression with presence of various fills, vocal shots and numerous variations. The result is nearly “chaotic”, at a level that is borderline for my personal preferences, but at least it’s fun. Everything is better than boring ideas, at the moment.

Marc Blou has genuinely fashioned this, showing improvements in the field; “Feels Like” is vibrant, has an immersive melody and leaves behind a satisfying aftertaste. The vocal loop didn’t feel as special, a classic sample acting as a placeholder. The rest doesn’t stand out as much either, but I must admit that the current Big Room scene is thickly saturated and it’s difficult to achieve ingenuity. It’s still a fun tune to dance along, clean and well-executed.
