3 songs for exploring “Wobbling Future House”

June 7, 20212 min read

While not being a fanatic of the Future House genre, it is a style that often outputs rare gems from either the reputed acts making, or an insane amount of copy-pastas that continue doing the same predictable things, leading up to “quantity-over-quality” publishers such as FHC.

Yet amidst this complaint of mine, I recently started digging the Zonderling/Don Diablo-esque “wobbling lead”, often used in unanticipated results. One day, I received over three submissions with this specific sound, and immediately thought about grouping them in a special article. So, let’s explore them, shall we?

East Dawn x Alex Helder – I Can Feel
70/100

To begin with, let me start with the prototypal but “classic” use of the said lead. From the eastern countries of Russia and Turkmenistan, this duo delivered a fascinating melody (my favorite element) going along with a soft, clean bassline. The leads remains simple, pure; if you still don’t know what I am directing at, start from the drop. The sweet vocal is a warming addition, although adhering to a linear structure.

EMDIES & Chad Kowal – I Come Alive
78/100

Let’s animate the atmosphere with an emotional vocal from Chad Kowal (who also worked with KAAZE) and EMDIES, as the latter slowly builds up a rather aggressive Future House concoction. Here, the mentioned elements get distorted on a repeated basis, creating an unpredictable effect meshed with vocoded filters. “I Come Alive” dons that Rock attitude that impressed me, and shows excellent demonstration of the “wobbling” signature being talked.

Beatline – Bugatti
88/100

We have another Russian producer, Beatline, who is concluding this article by settling with an impressive score. A stunning hybrid between Future House and… Progressive House, should I say? Well, I can’t really categorize the sudden twist in the drop, which is first mixed with the lead and dynamic vocal chops, and then is blended with a progressive type sub-melody. A creative approach, combining two elements that have earned my admiration. Add to this formula a great vocal and a specific attention to details, the outcome is “Bugatti”. Much recommended.
