Jayxme & Gutty – Sova Is Dead

January 6, 20213 min read

• Funky rhythm in all the composition
• Fresh robotic vocals
• Different Records has established its quality

This is the night of thirty-first when I am writing this, so I cannot wait to show you this release. As some of you might know, I indulge in gaming and hence this song immediately caught my attention. Jayxme & Gutty have titled their latest work after one of the main characters in the reputed multiplayer shooting game Valorant.

Leaving video games aside, this funky offering by Different Records is as solid as it can be, adding a finishing touch for an excellent year for the Spanish label. Despite its sordid naming, “Sova Is Dead” begins with a lively and groovy rhythm that would make one hard to catch their breath, together with a catchy robotic vocal. I expected to hear a Tech House arrangement amidst this, however the song slackens its energy around the build-up segments.

For lack of a better word, the precise way to define this transition would be “aggressive”. It is strange to see this sort of escalated risers serve as an entrance to a more funky-ish setup.. anyway, the drop is a classic amount of dirty synths that we adore, an effective composition. It is a pleasant experience, but not worth repeating.

Taking more handling in this case, the vocal fits snugly, making the instrumental even more danceable especially during the second drop which delivers as an absolute Bass House weapon. Also, using vocal chops in the drop is perhaps a new trend?

The vocal fits excellent, adding groovier vibes to the composition especially on the second drop which helps this tune to be a total Bass House weapon and very hooky due to the constant rhythm “Sova Is Dead” has. The vocal chops in this particular style could be a newer trend, nonetheless refreshing.

Displaying their multifaceted and dexterous skills, Jayxme and Gutty have put together a striking single, in the process proving why foundations of this genre is time-tested. A total recommendation for the audience interested in Bass and Future House. Pros and cons aside, they managed to cook a strong recipe for the dance-floor. Sova is not dead, he’s just partying with this one!
