May 15, 20202 min read

• Progressive House with an elegant touch
• Passionate, emotional vocal performance
• Great commencement building up to an exciting style

I’ve been waiting two months for this review since receiving this submission way before the due release date, but we are finally here! “Chances”‌ is a beautiful product crafted by the Indian producer Maulik, featuring a quality vocal by Liam Sturgess.

Today’s featured artist might be extremely young (15 years old), however he has already based himself well in the progressive house scene, challenging himself on various contexts. We are still at the beginning of a musical career, and I have been intrigued by his sound already.

While listening to “Chances”, I felt hypnotized by its elegant chords, following a captivating pattern emphasized by the gorgeous performance by Liam Sturgess. The vocalist crafted excellent lyrics and Maulik built an appealing structure around them. The duo has some good chemistry! The breakdown clearly shows their skills, with, in addition, an experimental pre-drop segment with some unusual percussions.

Speaking about the drop, that was my favorite part! The melody is hooky, following a dynamic simple pattern that got easily stuck in my mind. The secret, here, is that there are few elements carefully coordinated in order to maximize the output. Minimal, efficient structure.

Maulik may still be needful of his‌ “own” sound, but his catchy progressive house can be considered a worthy genesis. There is something in his style that gave me a lot of positive vibes, and I recommend listening to “Chances”, especially if you are in a bad fit right now. Quarantine begun, and I needed some good, delicate Progressive House. This young composer managed to give me three minutes of joy, and finally, I can return the favor. Valorizing lesser-known names in our articles is a joy in itself!
