Thomas Gold, Kosling & David Shane – Escape

January 17, 20202 min read

• Atmospheric presence
• Lively vocal performance from David Shane
• Engaging drop segment developing a pumping bassline

We concluded our critic to Revealed new design with a phrase: “Never judge a book from its cover“. We judged the cover, now it’s time for the book… In this case, the release, one from the specialists themselves. It involves the skill-set of reputed German act Thomas Gold, up and coming talent Kosling and Arizona based personage David Shane. This article will deconstruct their latest brainchild “Escape” and its memorable schematics.

To begin with, the instrumental instantly sets the mood to an alluring atmosphere, all credits due to the soft background pads and the uplifting spirit of the vocal. David Shane sure did breathe life, and the drop equally complements as the climax. Equipped with “hands-in-the-air” Electro synths and pumping bassline, the rest of the performance is equally delivered by the hook. The slight repetition of the notes in the melody doesn’t obstruct the flow, but offers the sentiments as it wanted to! It’s quality Progressive, exactly what we are used to receiving from Thomas Gold, with the additional freshness offered by Kosling, a name that is moving very fast in Progressive House hierarchies.

In summary, “Escape” is a solid choice by Revealed as their re-entrée for this year, and should they keep this quality, the imprint will certainly flourish thrivingly! It plays it safe, without risking anything (a choice that we personally consider too predictable lately), but that’s its job. Economists call them “Cash Cows“: lucrative industries that aren’t risky and provides a steady, safe amount of money (in this case, streams), solidly positioned in a market that it’s not growing (Progressive House has been stable for years). “Escape” is another Cash Cow for Revealed, who, hopefully, will invest the revenues in new talents.
