Dharma Worldwide, KSHMR’s neophyte label has presented itself as an astounding idea since its inception. Dharma, after its launch, has presented the “Materia EP” from the label boss and a collaboration between Timmy Trumpet & Dimatik – “Punjabi”.
The label perfectly radiates the ethnic vibe with all its releases boasting of orchestral instruments and humanised melodies. The fans, however, expected something much more refreshing from this label and KSHMR was just in time to pull out his wildcard in the form of a new addition on the Dharma Roster, Padé, a producer based in Crete, Greece and boy did he deliver?
With the release of “The Olive”, Padé brought one of the lesser expected genres on Dharma, Deep House. However, this classification is largely approximative… Padé gave birth to something so special with hypnotic, ambient and chill influences that it is difficult to categorize amongst the plethora of dance music genres. “The Olive” is a unique song. It’s easy to understand why KSHMR picked this demo from the Spinnin’ Talent Pool and rewarded this astonishing talent with a huge release. Words won’t ever be able to do justice to the emotions invoked by this extraordinary track, which is so often missing in dance music.
There are some significant changes from the first version that Padé put up on Spinnin’ Talent Pool! For example, the addition of the vocal and conspicuous changes in the mix which seems heavily inspired by the genius of KSHMR.
“The Olive” is an impressive work of art, in my opinion, it perfectly replicates the sensation of falling in love.
The dreamy vocal beds complemented by the chords, the gradual climbing of the live Violin and its frills, the tribal type percussions, all come together in flawless proportion to create this absolute masterpiece. It’s amazing how structurally well designed this track is, it’s like a drug that you’d get addicted to, it teleports you to a different and peaceful world.
Speaking about its inspirations, the violin, which is the hero of this track… It was recorded live in Padé’s Island hometown in Crete, which also happens to be the birthplace of Olive Cultivation and hence the name. Olive also stands as a symbol of peace and wisdom and thus proves to be a perfect name for this track, what’s funny here is that the producer and the label boss both hate Olives.
Padé gave the much-awaited refreshing charm to the label with this track. “The Olive” is definitely not a track that one would play at a club or a rave, but rather one that you could play as you go to sleep, the first thing as you wake up in the morning or when you are on a rejuvenating beach vacation.
