RKSN & Rimbano – Mithya

December 5, 20192 min read

• Tribal Room & Hardstyle
• Unexpected organisation
• Shape-shifting atmosphere, rather arbitrary

Looking up for denotation of “Mithya“, I found out that it is an expression that has a philosophical meaning close to ‘compound’ in Hindi. I may be misinterpreting, since there are various alternatives, but I inclined to this one.

In fact, this creation of RKSN (already presented in our review of “No Limits“) and Rimbano, fuses together many ideas in a composition that despite a slightly chaotic scheme, works well!

In fact, the young producers experimented with an outré structure. We call it informally, “Tribal Room”: Big room elements fused with ethnic percussions and vocal samples, however concluding with a Hardstyle segment.

The vocal loop prefers to be strange, deformed, seemingly gibberish; unexpectedly it rapidly becomes hypnotic, culminating in with a frenetic chant during the first Psy-Trance/Tribal Room drop. There are so many samples, sometimes clashing with the dominant bassline: creative, but a bit flummoxed for my tastes. Suddenly, this aggressive part leaves space to an elegant sequence of strings, a very surprising approach! Again, this worked well… With a certain class and grace, RKSN and Rimbano turned the tables: “Mithya” becomes mysterious and slowly escalating, while keeping its exotic vibe and an unexpected smoothness.

Then, we jump to the final surprise: a bombshell hundred and fifty BPM drop, breaking the intricate balance that the breakdown was trying to present us. I must be honest: I wasn’t expecting that, even if this style of Hardstyle twist are not rare in the genre! The overall result was perfectly built, playing around with hype and climaxes.

Released via Madox Network, “Mithya” loses points because of some complicated segments, especially in the first drop, but presents many intriguing ideas. It entertains and surprises; that’s a very important factor, because I want to be impressed when listening to any music.
