Afrojack’s Ipse Dixit

December 6, 20191 min read

It’s an established fact that one of the chef-d’oeuvre from David Guetta, “Titanium” has been produced by Afrojack. You can easily recognize his acid lead in the drop, for example.

However, the Dutch magnate has not been openly or directly credited in the song, thus we can talk about ghost-production with certain security.

Recently, the Grammy-winning record producer has spoken about his “mistake” plaintively, encouraging up and coming artists to always accredit their name in whatever they do.

Afrojack

Personally, we couldn’t agree more with Nick. Ghost-produced artists only represent themselves as superficial identities, “washouts” who are too obstinate or simply are unable to do their only job, but at the same time, we know how the industry operates. At some levels, some acts fall flat on their music, for chronological or cognitive challenges.
On the other side, for a less-known composer, the strategy of selling their creations can be the only way to monetize their music! Thus, this is a grey area, in our opinion: sometimes, credited co-producers, who are often misinterpreted as ghost-producers by the commonplace listeners, are a genuine necessity.
