• Distinct synth selection
• Fetching groove
• Commendable vocal presence
Previous Friday, the last one for November, brought in bountiful of production to be cherished by the audience. Now, besides the one released by the heavyweights, we once again will be talking about the Finnish band Winning Team, about whom we had great thoughts throughout the entirety of this year. Pulling the curtains from their latest instrumental “Dancing Til The Dawn”, the dynamic quartet has once again shown a flair for their craftsmanship.
We last penned down a review about them when they devised “Slow Down” during the heated month of July, which we preferred because of its admirable rhythms and arrangements in the composition. Furthermore, the Quartzo release operated fluently, thanks to the stabbing drop-synths and “less is more” blueprint with the melodic hook.
However, today’s subject approaches with a different zesty tone. It begins with a ricochet-ing synth pattern, which peculiarly somehow reminded us of Deorro’s masterpiece “Five Hours”. Anyway, the synth department set-up here draws a parallel with one that would be used as a lead in Complextro creations. Gritty and intense, this component swiftly takes us to a textbook riser, and then the penultimate drop segment. What comes is a playful assortment of synth-layers, having a shuffling groove and swing to it. In some ways, this is the differentia employed by the ensemble on all their handiwork.
Then comes the calmer breakdown, which settles for a charming medley: the fetching vocal presence and its melodic entourage in the backdrop. Chiming with a particular vibrancy, it doesn’t compromise brevity and pulls in the familiar acute synthesizer one last time. Following this, the apical part of the production works its way again, re-confirming all the dash and élan from the first one!
So where does this concoction finally stand at? It would not be unfair to say
that “Dancing Til The Dawn” earmarks itself as another capable work, evidence of it being a derivative of an adept skill set!
What do you think?
