Henry Thrill – Shook

November 4, 20192 min read

• Dominant male vocal presence
• Resonating drop segment
• A good showcase of experimentation

Every week, we have a new talent to highlight on, and this one’s no different. This Halloween weekend, we are going to talk about up and coming artist from States, Henry Thrill. The Washington native has devised a refreshing twist on Bass House genre, titled as “Shook”. Boasting energetic brew of sounds, this composition would certainly beguile listeners who have been appealed to this style before.

So where do we start? Particularly, we love to hear experimentation on any production. A quick glance at his bio depicts the prodigious Henry Thrill to be inspired from reputed producers like Matroda and Dustycloud, while also for his dynamic take on melodic G-House.
Upon listening to his recent creations uploaded on his SoundCloud, we do
agree with the facts mentioned too. The dexterous young musician plays with interesting assortments of sounds, venturing the boundaries of the mentioned genres.

“Shook” specifically puts the focus on the male rapping vocal in the breakdown, cleverly embedded for catching attention. Progressing with this minimal attitude, the following segment bursts with a zesty punch. A riff-raff of chiming and sonorous lead takes the frontline, further going hand in hand with another metallic and animated plucky synth. Fast-paced, the drop segment reminded us of the sort of arrangements Loopers constructs. Interestingly, the second repetition of this section brings the lead-sound with a discordant pitch, nonetheless making it flavourful and attention-hooking.

Summarizing, “Shook” is a promising work from the fledging yet intriguing Henry Thrill. We definitely recommend listening to his admirable discography!
