This is the first time I decided to review a song owing to its official video. “We Can Change” is a great tune, but as I watched the official music video, I got convinced that I had to talk about it. The man behind this masterpiece is TRONE, a Venezuelan producer based in Panama City. This would count as his debut, even though I think he had a different alias previously, based on some posts on his socials talking about his “return”.
Anyway, his latest single, “We Can Change” provides a timeless message about the propensity of music which is capable of making people happy and better, a cliché idea, but executed in a way that I found extremely interesting. The story begins with a couple watching the news and reflecting on the negativity that plagues our lives. The protagonist, then, picks up his DJ console under the bed, and the rest of the video is about him having fun and spreading joy through DJing, while his girl dances listening to music. Throughout the video are short clips of people doing random good deeds (for instance a kid giving back a purse that fell back to a lady, a guy putting a bottle in the trash, etc.), symbolizing the positive changes that love & music can give to people and humanity as a whole.
On musical terms, “We Can Change” presents a classic progressive approach, accompanied by an excellent vocal. I liked the lead, even though it fails to take up the entire job by itself. The song lacks something in its personality. It’s a classic commercial tune that focuses on being catchy with a simple message and a simple idea. Nonetheless, I found it compelling and entertaining enough for me to review the same.
The video, as aforementioned, is the element that caught my eyes. In the current scene where half of the official clips are just a bunch of shots of models or the super dull “Couple having a romantic moment“, it’s good to see a bit of change and a positive message being spread about.
