Tropical house is not a genre we usually review.
Actually, apart from a Kygo remix a few months ago, I’m not touching this genre a lot in 2018. The funny thing is that I even like this relaxing genre (Thomas Jack and Kygo over all), but I found the concept itself really difficult to review. Songs always follow the same structure, making everything a matter of sensations and feeling, and hard for me to describe without sounding generic.

This fact makes “In The Dark” incredibly special, because it’s a rare selection from EDM Reviewer.
The creator of this particular tune, E R I K, is a young American talent that managed to surprise us with a combination of trap and tropical house. “In The Dark” has a splendid vocal, first of all, but also has an unexpected dynamism and aggressiveness… That adds a certain spiciness to an already intriguing tropical structure. It’s mainly because of the huge bass in the drop, hitting in the right way, balancing the dynamism of the relaxing break.

Sure, the main genre is tropical, so we have a chilly song here, but we are fascinated by how the melody catches the attention! The overall structure is very dynamic, a real breath of fresh air in the scene!
Needless to add that the vocal follows the same mentality: chilly and calm, but with a certain amount of energy. Never static, never boring.
E R I K may be a new name for you (and for us), but this American talent definitely brings refreshing sounds. Keep an eye on him!
