Tony Junior & John Christian – Technoprime

September 15, 20192 min read

• Aggressive, “stabbing” drop
• Catchy, hypnotic vocal segment
• Bass House, trap and techno influences

The Dutch imprint of Maxximize Recordings has been a constant source of fresh Electro House hits, especially from the heavyweight label-heads Blasterjaxx and other luminaries. Today, we will talk about the latest release, from none other than leading Dutch solo act John Christian. Teaming up with the native hotshot Tony Junior, this unexpected yet striking team-up has resulted in “Technoprime”, an unusual concoction of genre and style with the requisite power to kickstart any party.

Relying on his prowess to craft horsepower productions, Amsterdam based John Christian has already unveiled an array of impressive singles in this year. His preceding work, “Club Bizarre”, experimented with the domain of Future House. Talking about the other half of this particular synergy, Tony Junior has delivered nothing short of expectations. His latest product “Speakah Wreckah” along with uprising talent SWACQ, provides firing synth power assisted with the familiar signature sounds and dynamic arrangements.

Returning to our subject, the short introduction (which reminded us slightly of “UNO”) leads with groove, along with off-beat hats and vocal snippet reverberating the title, switches to a brief riser and the drop segment. An amalgamation of wobbly and screeching synth-line amidst boom-y sub-bass rhythm, this section heavily leans to Bass House elements, yet with a different vibe altogether. The overall impression was that the drop was “stabbing” us!

The following main breakdown alters the ongoing beat, introducing a textbook 808-laden trap beat and male rapping vox. After this catchy part, the riser brings in the drop to enhance the stamina once more.

To wrap up in a few words, “Technoprime” doesn’t shy away from creative schematics, yet furnishing a good deal of potency and verve! We didn’t notice much Tony Junior in it though…
