• Symbolic release, tribute to Avicii
• Despite being excited to see Tiesto in there, I didn’t feel his presence very much
• Important milestone for DJs From Mars
6 years ago, I got hit by a car while listening to “Call Me Spaceman Maybe“ (Carly Rae Jepsen vs. Hardwell). A terrible event in my life, but I can admit that I won’t forget that Mashup.
Today we present you none other than the Italian duo DJs from Mars and their bootleg, in honour of Avicii (co-producer) of “A Sky Full Of Stars”, by Coldplay. Together with… Tiësto! This certainly is a significant milestone for them.
But who are DJs from Mars?
Beethoven vs. Chemical Brothers.
Gigi D’Agostino vs. Slayer.
Oasis vs. ACDC vs. Skrillex vs. Knife Party (personal favorite).
Those are just a few examples of their creations.
Their vibrant music ideas got introduced to me properly when “Lady Gaga vs. Depeche mode – Just Can’t Get Enough Paparazzi” got viral, in 2009.
Their mash-ups usually put together an EDM classic, or a trending song from the charts with something from completely different genres, usually pop, concluding the mix with a signature Electro House drop. There are various exceptions, during the years I’ve listened to literally any crazy idea that their minds produced, and I consider them the Gods of mashups. Terribly underrated when it comes to original releases, but the best around in this niche of the EDM world. I noticed that the Dutch star supported their edits various times, but I’m extremely happy to see the duo finally working with a big name. After years of great productions, this an important step.
Nothing particular to talk about the standard break, while the drop keeps the original melody but adds a bouncy bassline and a signature DJs From Mars-ish lead, Electro House oriented. I was expecting something more from Tiësto, honestly, I can’t see his touch, but still, this release is symbolic. The transition is smooth, the melody is easily danceable, and despite being more a fan of the Hardwell version, I found it a magnificent tribute to Avicii. A pure, simple, catchy bootleg.
I’m proud of DJs From Mars.
