76/100

• Released on Spinnin’ Premium, free download
• Delectable breakdown paired with a bass-heavy drop
• Reminds us of “Triple Six” or “51”, classic Curbi style

Not a long time has passed and we have another great record from Curbi. The English prodigy, known for his unique arrangements and sound-selection, is back to his familiar bass-heavy style. However, he continues to experiment with flair, and this time we will be talking about his latest work “Polar”. Released on the premium segment of Spinnin’ Records, this genuine and shuffling production straps in the listener, delivering delectable and hooking elements in the platter.

Just a month ago, we saw Curbi team-up with the renowned Dutch artist Quintino, which quickly garnered attention because of the two teaming up. The resulting joint-effort was named “Get Down”, which surprisingly provided dance-floor addicts with the necessary dosage of aggressiveness and hard-hitting sounds. The duo adeptly came up with the amalgamation of their endeared styles, making sure their fan-base get the best of their signature. It was quite impressive nonetheless, consisting of booming drop with peculiar synth-line, giving it an edge. All in all, we hope to see such an unlikely collaboration in future, as this one didn’t disappoint a bit!

Now, let us have a quick look-through of today’s track.

Starting with a classic intro, the percussion and kick work with the solid bassline, switching to the alluring breakdown. This part of the song introduces chiming plucks, with a break-beat to complement it. However, it plays out for few seconds before summoning the riser, changing the pace and intensity for the oncoming drop. Upon striking, the drop steps-in with the familiar signature synths, armed with a catchy and slightly moody melody. It works well enough with the other components, harmonizing to form a dynamic team. Some critic out there may term it as “not the best”, and we, unfortunately, would have to agree with them. But looking from the positive aspect, it brings back the kinetic arrangements Curbi crafted with “Triple Six” or “51”.

In summary, this particular single has the requisite stamina and spice, but we are sure the well-endowed twenty-year-old has more smashing hits to offer this year.
