GLDN: A Scammer on Spinnin’ Records!

June 24, 20193 min read

It finally happened. The abhorrent scammer, GLDN, has just released a track on Tiesto’s Spinnin’ Records sublabel, Musical Freedom alongside the Italian duo Promise Land. It’s simply unbelievable to us that he is still able to rise despite scandal after scandal. We thought we would take a moment to briefly recap some of his past misdeeds and make some more information public.

Back in 2017, we exposed GLDN and his label, CELL Recordings for utilizing bots, fake followers, and most importantly: a predatory demo submission system and scam promotional services. To summarize, if you submitted a free demo, you were promised one listen and “selective” feedback and response. For three euros, you got two listens, at least twenty words of “professional feedback/advice” and a guaranteed response. For five euros, you got forty words of feedback from one of the Cell artist such as Olly James, KEVU, LoaX, or Nightro. We at EDM Reviewer actually sent in a demo to this service to see what sort of feedback we would get for five euros and received a canned response. You can read more about our discoveries here.

Earlier this year, The QR Network reported on an unprecedented move by Hardwell’s community label, Revealed.DJ where the track, “Skyline,” had its credits changed from GLDN to AXYS & PVLSE after those Japanese artists proved their ownership of the track to the label. Their evidence was convincing enough to warrant such a huge and public move. The QR Network talked directly with AXYS and hypothesized about the reasons why AXYS & PVLSE weren’t compensated or credited for their work which involved an unfavourable intermediary. It’s a bit more complex than what can be written in a paragraph but you can read the whole piece here.

It’s important to note that The QR Network concluded that Strikenine was the one at fault during the whole Revealed debacle, not GLDN. Despite that fact, GLDN ended up threatening all of the involved parties with lawsuits in addition to threatening random commenters on his own Instagram page. The private messages will remain private for now. In addition to those comments, new Soundcloud accounts were created purely to spread doubt about AXYS and the whole situation.

Musical Freedom and Promise Land are clearly aware of who is GLDN, but the release has still come out. There isn’t much to do, but we are personally disgusted by Promise Land’s behaviour. It makes us feel hopeless and doubtful about the EDM scene. If people like GLDN are capable of getting signed to Spinnin’ Records despite their past, then there is something seriously wrong here.
