Beatmad & Arsen feat. Vyel – Today Is What I Live For

May 27, 20192 min read

• Solid progressive house structure
• Alluring vocal
• Undeveloped bagpipe

Though sceptical at first, we are reviewing a song made by one of our team members. Well, the producers involved put in months of effort (believe me, I witnessed every step of the story), and the result is gratifying, so we’d have reviewed it under different circumstances too. Some might argue that we aren’t impartial, of course, we aren’t, but at least we are honest about it, not like other blogs (I see you, We Rave You & Teamworx). When we are reviewing a friend/coworker’s job, we admit that.

I’ll try to be abruptly straightforward about “Today Is What I Live For”: it’s a great progressive house song, but it doesn’t stand out in terms of creativity. It missed that special supplement in the drop, and that’s a shame because there was an unusual sound (which seemed like a bagpipe) in the framework of the breakdown, an element that wasn’t established more. My two cents say a bagpipe in the drop would have worked fabulously.

Anyway, the overall quality is excellent. The drop has a powerful bassline, slightly more aggressive than usual, and the main lead reminds me of the good old Alesso, I miss those times. The vocalist, Vyel, delivered a fantastic job; his voice was warm and hypnotic. I hope to hear more from him in the future!

There isn’t much more to add about “TIWILF”: it’s better than most of the Rev.dj releases, but it doesn’t accentuate its personality. It’s a good starting point for Beatmad, Arsen and Vyel, and I wish them best of luck!
