Who remembers “Instagram”? That 2019 summer hit from the most random name’s together: in the order of appearance from Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, David Guetta, Daddy Yankee, Afro Bros & Natti Natasha. The follow-up “She Knows” is here, with Akon taking the vocal mantle.

This isn’t the David Guetta of the Future Rave and #1 in the world hype era, but from that 2019 moment when “She Knows” premiered at Tomorrowland instead. As unfortunately it happens with most releases from DV&LM, there was a substantial delay for years, and then dropped without much fuzz. Why? Marketing, I suppose.

EDM fans, don’t be hyped, as “She Knows” features commercial aspects to RnB, since we are in the summer with Akon’s vocals remaining great. Although the hypnotic tone from “Instagram” is missing here. All the big league producers? Nowhere to be heard here. There is a shy attempt at incorporating a more powerful bassline than the standard one and leaning towards EDM. But that is replaced right after with a Reggaeton-inspired touch from Afro Bros, eliminating any chances of hearing that.

Let’s be clear: if I read the right side of the cover with Afro Bros and Akon, this is a summer hit in the making. Fun, joyful, good vocals, and coherent styles. Nothing wrong with that. Although from the top-five figures of the EDM scene, mayyybe something more interesting? I lost my hopes with such huge DV&LM collabs, which devote to the quantity of names rather than quality.
