• Future bass rework of the Lil Nas X hit
• Country vibes in the breakdown
• Wobbling basses and vocal chops in the drop
Today, I’d like to present, for our audiences, a beautiful future bass cover of the famous hit by Lil Nas X, “Old Town Road“. Quite frankly, I’m not an enthusiast of the original, I appreciate the inventive concept, but it doesn’t contribute towards a distinctive purpose. However, I became eager about hearing some remixes.
Brevis & RYVN, the creators of this rework, are both artists that we have previously featured on our channel on account of the release of their collaboration “Fall For You” released by Tribal Trap. The vocalist Kevin Stallone delivered a stellar performance: I identify that his voice fits perfectly in the composition, it has that delicate character while still maintaining a countryish touch: excellent choice! As was expected, the track emanates similar vibes as of the original (boasting of a western-style guitar), post which a sudden buildup begins.
I wasn’t too impressed by the harsh transition and the change of pitch of the vocal (a failed use of right talent), but the drop works quite admirably. A robust future bass wobbling lead is introduced, which affixes an energetic vibe to the composition. It doesn’t exactly suit the atmosphere of the breakdown… However, I was glad to hear Brevis & RYVN’s trademark sound in the remix. The drop is imaginative and delightfully crafted, with clever use of vocal chops and a sparkling temperament.
Summing it up, I particularly appreciate Kevin Stallone’s gig and the unexpected future bass drop by this duo. I’d pick “Fall For You” over this any day, but if you happen to be looking for a good “Old Town Road” remix, this version is currently my favorite. After all, this song isn’t exactly the easiest to remix, so kudos to the artists!
