Samlight & Stage Republic – Fire

January 10, 20192 min read

• Creative and innovative vocal chops
• Elegant summerish breakdown
• Stunning vocal

It’s not the first time that we are reviewing a song by Samlight, and we have our good reasons to do so. This Finnish talent impressed us various times with magical future house releases and his fantastic use of the vocal chops technique.

Vocal chops are a thing to use with moderation and intelligence. 99% of the scene doesn’t understand that and slap them everywhere, making the poor chops disliked and considered a “boring” element, especially in future bass and future house. Thankfully, Samlight and Stage Republic are showing us how to use this overused instrument creatively and cleverly.

“Fire,” released via Spinnin’ talent pool, is a catchy future house tune that impressed us for its elegance and sparkling creativity. A happy and bouncy drop is supported by a friendly system of vocal chops which is refreshing and summerish. Stage Republic did a good work on the breakdown, with an interesting vocal supported by an amazing guitar. That section of “Fire” is genuine, natural, with real instruments adding a confident personality to the composition. Unfortunately, we prefer the creativity and the dynamism of the drop, but it’s a thought battle. The whole tune is a gem.

In conclusion, “Fire” enters with a big jump in our top songs for the beginning of 2019. This free release is rich of talent and passion, with a perfect sample choice and experimental vocal chops. Samlight and Stage Republic brought some blazing fire in this cold January!
