Let’s Analyze the New Revealed Festival EP!

July 7, 20184 min read

After an influx of fresh summer releases to date, Revealed Recordings open a new chapter just in time for the festival season, with their “Festival EP Vol. 5”. The EP boasts the comeback of REEZ in the scene, the super talented Misha K, and a debut from SaberZ amongst other surprises. It has a mixture of few hits and a few misses, but it is definitely something worth checking out. Keep reading to know what we thought of the EP!

1. REEZ & DIVARO – Raising

82/100

“Raising” delineates one of the most awaited comebacks in the progressive scene. The duo REEZ, after almost a year and half of silence, are back with Dutch artist DIVARO. The trio dropped a release that shows both styles in a superlative and dynamic way, with a destructive climax and massive energy in the drop. Take a minute, and try to FEEL the power of the melody. It slightly suffers from a lack of vocal but manages to showcase some really indefatigable festival vibes which could be compared to gold in today’s scenario. We hope that “Raising” marks just the beginning!

SaberZ – Journey

80\100

Speaking about SaberZ, “Journey” is a surprise for us. Because it did disappoint us to an extent since we were expecting great things, but the track turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Let’s start by saying that it’s a nice release from the Hungarian duo. We were hoping for something more, this being their debut on Revealed, the drop doesn’t “amaze” us like their previous releases. But the break, wow. The vocal is elegant and magical in a fantastic way (a rare detail in today’s big room), the lead escalates in a crazy buildup in a genial structure. A breakdown with the W&W quality, we can say. SaberZ are becoming greater and greater, we must admit it, even if “Journey” drop doesn’t make us crazy.

ANG & Patrick Moreno feat. Morell Brown – Alone Tonight

77\100

Chillier approach than expected from ANG! This is probably because of the Patrick Moreno progressive style, fused with the Mexican duo big room-ish scheme. Definitively an interesting combination, unexpected and fresh. “Alone Tonight” does its job, delights, and impresses, but doesn’t stand out. We didn’t like the vocal a lot, in particular, it could have been more energetic for this genre of music. Anyway, “Alone Tonight” deserves to be on Revealed: catchy, fresh, with familiar sounds in a different structure. Not bad at all.

Mikael Weermets & Misha K Feat. Kayla Renee – You & Me

68\100

It’s a shame that “You & Me” has been left in the last spot, but we couldn’t really comprehend the song. Misha K is an awesome progressive house producer and Mikael Weermets is an experienced and skilled artist, with many deep house releases. The resulting collab is an electro house old school tune, with the nice vocal by Kayla Renee and a surprisingly good progressive drop (by Misha K)…

We found some similarities with the old Afrojack (“Rock The House”, for example). It’s theoretically an intriguing idea, but that section completely clashes with the following progressive house structure. The second drop, we must add, it’s a lovely creation by Misha K, much appreciated.
“You & Me” it’s not a bad release, but we consider it a fish out of water in this festival EP. Too experimental for our tastes.
