77/100

• A splendid mixture of the signature sound of both artists
• The drop alternates between hefty bass and dirty wobbles
• The shuffling vocal brings personality, catchiness and dynamism

With the focus on bringing diverse talents onto their impressive roster, the prestigious Dutch label Musical Freedom have upped their game with a brand new single from two unexpected names. This production is a joint effort of Wax Motif, the Australian based artist, and Toronto talent Hunter Siegel. Named “Wassup”, this club-oriented record definitely tops it with the dark groovy bassline and sublime elements.

The featured producers of this article are both renowned in the house genre, focusing from rumbling deep house to striking G-House style. Wax Motif has already built an impressive list of support from heavyweights, ranging from Diplo to Tchami. He has also unveiled his tracks in the mentioned individuals’ label Mad Decent and Confessions. Talking about the other, Hunter has collaborated with leading musicians like Zeds Dead and AutoErotique. His preceding single represents a subtle deep tune, boasting an amalgamation of deep, bass and G house all in one. The instrumental was lead by an alluring female vocal, which swirled to the groove and rhythm generated by the backdrop components.

After saying this, we are quite sure this unique team-up of this pair certainly assures the quality and dance-ability of their resultant recipe.

Back to our today’s topic of this review, “Wassup” initiates with a male vocal snippet looping over to escalate it towards a heavy hitting drop. The drop straps in a sonorous bassline synth, while following a classic house pace. Altering the tone, a dirty wobble synth enters the scene, bringing in a variation and some kinetic vibes. Revolving mainly on this couple of harmonic instruments, the melodies and shuffling voice cooperate with each other. However, there is no lack of signatures. While the hefty bass suggests Wax Motif’s ingredients, the bass house influence points at Hunter’s work. This balance between both the sounds is impressive to quite an extent, making it formidable for dance-floors.

In few words, “Wassup” guarantees the dosage of fresh and vibrant beat and at the same time does not lack the essential verve for the crowds.
