Why the “Festival Mix” of “Heart Of Steel” by Raiden and Bright Lights is a MILESTONE

Nicky Romero’s label Protocol Recordings hasn’t been doing a great job of standing out in the past few years. If we’re being honest, the decision to completely leave progressive house for groove and electro house without a smooth transition has left a large part of their fanbase unsatisfied. The Dutch label has had a few hits here and there but fans want the old Protocol back.
To quote Agatha Christie, “three pieces of evidence prove a fact” and in the last two months, three out of the four Protocol releases have been pure, simple, and amazing progressive tunes from Lush & Simon, Nicky Romero, and now the festival mix of “Heart of Steel” by Raiden and Bright Lights.

The new mix reuses the amazing vocals from Bright Lights while adding a new, melodic festival feel which respects the source material while adding an unexpected dynamism.

We can’t disagree with most of the fans: “Heart Of Steel” received a deserved treatment. The fact that the original is more than a year old (few people were hoping for an official release after so much time) is a clear sign that something changed in the HQ. The past is the past, now it seems like that Protocol is going to equilibrate this revamped and loved genre with the classic groove and bass house, in a more satisfying and equilibrate balancement.

Progressive is finally back on Protocol in a huge way and fans are obviously excited! Let’s see what Nicky Romero and his team will bring us in the future!
