• Released in Mixmash Deep, the chillier Mixmash sub-label
• Feelgood and soul-touching, including creative sound-selection
• Genuine song-writing complemented by vibrant instrumental

For today’s platter, we have an engaging and vibrant release to talk about. We will be discussing about the latest team-up of two Australian prodigies Tom Budin and Kopa, who have already made their distinctive reputation in the hectic industry. Their joint-effort has resulted in something truly feelgood and soul-touching, in our opinion. Released in the esteemed label of Mixmash, the record has been named “Things Change”. Filled with exquisite elements, this deep-house production aims at hooking the listener with its atmospheric background and leading vocal, providing a vibrant experience to the ears.

The Sydney-based Tom Budin is an industrious personality for sure. Having releases in big label like Armada and Hexagon is surely no small feat to do. His recent discography is embedded with lively house remixes and originals, displaying his adept skills for creating music. Only twenty days have passed since he last revealed his preceding single “OMG”, which was a vivacious and bass-booming work with trap-like groove. But let us now divert our attention to the second artist, Kopa. Terming himself a “fanatic” of the acoustic and downtempo vibes, the Australian native focuses on indie-pop genre. Interestingly, both Tom Budin and Kopa study in the same university, leading up to the collaboration we will be shortly talking about. A brief look alone convinces us of the talent both these musicians have!

Now, let us revert back to our subject.

“Things Change” initiates with a calm and melodic tone, introducing the sublime vocal from Kopa. A dreamy guitar complements the vocal, as it leads and elevates with the backdrop. The groove greets the ear with a sonorous and bleeping synth taking charge. The instrumental halts for a few moments, giving the charming voice transition the song to a kinetic and upbeat drop. This drop inserts wavy synth-line, along with the one from the breakdown. The fresh variation and sound-selection are definitely admirable here, playing over the enticing melody hook. Only a listen would more precise way to describe, since the combination certainly “Out of the box” for us!

In a few words, “Things Change” displays intense emotions, and at the same time does not compensate for the energy or rhythm in exchange for the sentiments!
