Breathe Carolina & Sunstars – DYSYLM

80/100

With the dawn of the new year, Tiesto’s renowned label Musical Freedom is back with another great release! The prominent Italian trio Sunstars joined forces with the notable electronic duo Breathe Carolina. The result is the wonderful “DYSYLM” (Apparently it expands to ‘Don’t You Say You Love Me’).

We were excited about “DYSYLM”: Sunstars are three of the most trending producers in Italy, they had a splendid breakthrough last year. Releasing funky and innovative tunes on eminent labels like Revealed, Spinnin and Protocol, the triad proficiently proved their talent. On the other hand, Breathe Carolina experimented with different genres such as future house and chill to craft appreciable and favourable releases. If you don’t know them, you should know that they are one of the most important duos in the USA.

Their styles were quite different, so we were excited to see what the result was sounding like!

DYSYLM follows a jazzy and nifty bass house style, which reminds one of productions from artists like Ephwurd and Jauz. Starting with the general house-y groove and pace, the catchy breakdown comes in with the luscious female vocal of Kate Wild and the well-known vintage dance piano. In a sleek manner, the breakdown fades away to a brief riser, slowly bringing up the typical bass house synths with it. With a pre-drop vocal, the dynamic drop enters with a lot of potent.

The drop sweeps in with sharp bass house wobbling synths. The pattern and groove followed by these synths, however felt a bit generic. Sunstars usually tries this scheme, and even if it’s associated with them, this time sounded predictable. However, it sums up enough stamina to embed the necessary spice and flavour in the track.

Concluding, “DYSYLM” is definitely is a good start for Musical Freedom, and it totally re-ignites our hopes that these artists and the label have more fantastic productions to release this year.
