The first Monday of June has proved the potential for this month, with numerous quality releases unveiled on the same day. Among this, we have the unexpected collaboration between the Belgium hotshot Yves V, and the eminent English trio Futuristic Polar Bears, who together have forged an interesting and melodic record, bound to get a placement in the public’s good books. Named as “Running Wild”, this alluring Spinnin Recordings release has also featured the delectable voice of Pollyanna.

Even though FPB and Yves V made an impact in the scene with their aggressive electro-house productions, the resultant of their meet-up is a totally different style, without deviating much from their original sounds. A brief summary of past few months indicate that Yves V focused on alternative styles of dance music… For example, his track with LA-based Sevenn was more pop based. On the contrary, FPB revealed a striking and festival-friendly work with Portuguese duo KEVU, named “Are Am Eye”. Some listeners even speculated whether “Running Wild” would be a future bass song (considering the cover art), but to our surprise, it turned out to be a dynamic progressive house single!

Focusing back on the track, we come to the first and foremost: the breakdown. It utilises the delightful and enchanting vocal of Pollyanna, with effects applied on it to sound slightly pitched and resonant. The instrumental gives significant space and atmosphere to the vox, enhancing the nuances. But, the excitement begins as the drop approaches, bringing forward a vibrant melody played by sonorous electro synths. Emphasising on the progressive feels, the components of the drop also add hints of electro house, with the synth line swirling to the groovy bassline. This fresh variation of a groove certainly makes the drop pleasant and charming, without compensating requisite stamina or dynamism.

All in all, “Running Wild” has a winning combination of cheeriness, rhythms and intensity to deliver a solid listening experience of over three and a half minutes!
